CHAPTER 16

Turk couldn’t believe how perfect the situation was. The darkness of night provided the perfect cover for him to park a block away and sneak up on the house party he had heard about. And although it was a smaller gathering than he had hoped to find, he found the overall set up to be perfect: a bunch of drunk-ass fools ignorant to anything and everything going on around them.

Turk’s view through the living room window couldn’t be any clearer. It was almost like watching fish inside of a fishbowl. He stepped from the bush and emptied his clip into the window. All he heard were yells and screams of panic as people scrambled for cover—some using furniture, and some using other people to shield themselves from the deadly bullets.

Turk didn’t have much time to admire his handiwork as he took off running towards his car. Although he heard several neighbors opening their doors and looking out of their windows, he trusted that the darkness combined with his hoodie would make identification pretty much impossible. The only thing he really had to worry about was getting into his car. The taped over license plate might be helpful to some extent, but there was no way to hide the model and year from prying eyes.

Fortunately, everything looked clear as he climbed into his car and pulled off. The gun in his waistband still felt warm to the touch. It reminded him of the heat he felt coming from LaToya’s body as she lay dying in the alley.

“Don’t even trip, baby,” Turk spoke to himself as he bent a corner. “These niggas ain’t gonna know what hit ‘em when I get done wit’ ‘em…send these punk-ass bitches back to California!”
